- What kind of movie am I trying to make?

I am trying to make a horror/mystery type of movie. The movie that I am trying to make is a serial killer/psycho murdering all of the kids in his classroom who comes over for a party at the serial killers house. 

- What are the basic genre conventions of my movie (themes, style, characters, etc.)? 

The basic genre conventions is a murder mystery type of movie. Horror and mystery will be used by making the serial killer/psycho blend in as the "chill friend". The characters that are going to be played as the rest of the people are going to be class friends from his last period. Throughout my movie, the serial killer will murder everyone slowly until he dies when the movie ends.

- What do the opening sequences look like in other films of my genre?

Usually opening sequences from my movie genre is that it introduces a house with one of the characters being home alone, and usually the killer attacks the person who is home alone, and that person either gets injured or dies.

- How does an opening sequence reveal meaning and tone without giving away too much? 

An opening sequence reveals meaning and tone without giving too much because, what happens is that the movie director wants to tease you about what the movie is going to be about, but it leaves you thinking because you don't know who's the person under the mask.

- How much action really happens in the first 2 minutes of a film? 

In the first 2 minutes of the film, usually a lot happens because it's basically the introduction and it wants to tell you what the movie is about, but at the same time it doesn't really explain the characters. It's usually explaining one character and the serial killer/psycho. 

- What are the settings or locations of other films in my genre? 

Usually the settings and locations of my genre films are at places like mansions, where there is a big party and the serial killer starts killing everyone one by one secretly. But, if we are talking before the climax/falling action then usually the settings or locations is at a park where they are talking about the serial killer and the serial killer is listening to it, phasing as the "chill friend".
